What do I love about: The Lady from Tel Aviv?

After 35 years away from his home, his family, his land, Walid returns home to Gaza. The writer uses the story of one man in a sea of many to illustrate the pain and frustration of the Palestine people. Despite his British citizenship, Walid still experienced the loss and humiliation of having your land and life stolen by a powerful Israel.

What do I not love about: The Lady from Tel Aviv?

I truly love this novel. While I understood the chasm between Walid the Palestine and Dana the Israeli who sat next to him on the plane ride to Israel, I found it difficult to understand their relationship as portrayed by the writer. The novel concluded with a paragraph that further added some confusion to this strange and unique relationship.
