Wrapping My Thoughts For 2018

It is December 27 2018. 4 days till 2018 runs out. Its the usual boxing day hustle. Most people are out there shopping in what I like to think is North America’s biggest scam-Christmas shopping/sales.

Well I decided to pen my thoughts for the year. The lessons I have learnt, my struggles and hopes for 2019. I understand how important it is to end the year strong and begin 2019 even stronger.

For me, I am grateful for 2018. I won and I lost. But in all, my heart is full of appreciation for grace, family, friends, relationships and my  career. As I meditate these last days of 2018 and replay my highs and lows, I realize not everyone is happy. A lot of people struggled in 2018 and a couple of people even experienced loss this festive season. But remember that challenges help us build character. Do not get lost in the merriment and mirth of the season. Use this time to recharge and chart the way forward.

In 2018 I achieved almost everything I set out to achieve – I achieved what truly matters. I traveled, loved unconditionally, explored religion and read more books. I grew wiser in 2018 fully understanding what it means to live unapologetically, giving more than receiving, praying more than complaining. I lost friends but what is growth if your circle doesn’t grow smaller. I started a business and also abandoned it. I lived fearlessly, questioning all the brules (Bullshit rules)I was ever told.

Whatever your story is for 2018, remember that doesn’t define you or your future. You can decide today to shape your 2019. Strive for health, wealth and peace. And now is the time to shape your 2019.

Set tangible and measurable goals and also attach plans to attack the goal. Forget resolutions and embrace action driven goals. For example

GOAL 1: To live healthy in 2018. Where my health is measured by overall wellness. Tackle nutritional deficit AND/OR build muscles AND/OR improve balance and physical strength etc

PLAN 1: Commit to fitness atleast 2 times a week by registering for fitness classes

PLAN 2: Subscribe to fasting atleast once a week

GOAL 2: To maintain and foster positive relationships

PLAN 1: Seek out a mentor and commit to interact with the mentor atleast once a month

PLAN 2: Take time atleast once every 2 weeks to reach out to people I love

PLAN 3: Cut out all negative relationship-Any relationship that makes me feel less, perpetuates inner sadness and takes more from me

GOAL 3: Get an advanced degree

PLAN1: Seek counsel and apply for the program

PLAN2: Register for any prerequisite programs or test

These are examples of goals, make yours real-Own it and be accountable for it. Stop complaining and start acting. You alone are the architect of your destiny.

In all remember that life is too short to live full of regrets and complains.
